The West Salem Presbyterian Church was
the scene Saturday, Sept. 2, 1961 of the wedding of Miss Marilyn L. Capper,
daughter of G. Ormond Capper, West Salem, and the late Mrs. Capper, and Durance
R. Horn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Horn, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), who were
married by the Rev. William J. Slosser.
At 2:30 p.m. the bride entered
the church carrying red roses and wearing a white satin floor length gown. Beige
and rust brocaded satin were chose for Miss Carolyn Capper, the maid of honor,
and Miss Mary Jo Weingarten and Miss Yvonne Sennes, the bridesmaids. Their
colonial bouquets were of rust, yellow and white chrysanthemums.
The
bridegroom’s attendants were Gerald Horn, best man, and Earl Buswell and Erwin
Oenes, the groomsmen. Marvin Capper and Myron Hicks seated the guests.
Karen and David Wuttke were flower girl and ring bearer, respectively. Mrs.
Claude Backus was the organist and Don Hugett the soloist.
Guests number
250 were received in the church. Those from away came from Cheney, Wash.; La
Crescent, Spring Grove, Rushford and Marengo, Ill.; Brooking, S.D.; and from
Stoughton, Wauwatosa, Trempealeau, Junction, Shawano, Onalaska and Sparta.
Attending from Greenwood were Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Braun, Mr. and Mrs.
Hnery Horn and son, Jerome, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Horn,
Mr. and Mrs. George Poppe, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wessel, Mr. and Mrs. Huber Horn
and son, Gerald, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Horn, Mr. and Mrs.
Heber Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Humke, Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Liebzeit, Mrs. Ida Horn, Mrs. Clara Liebzeit, Mrs. George Braun and Miss
Martha Horn.
After a honeymoon in the Dakotas and Montana, Mr. and Mrs.
Horn will make their home at 134 S. 11th St., La Crosse.
