Fluegel, Mr. and Mrs. John H. (Golden - 5 December 1966)
Mr. and Mrs.
John H. Fluegel of Rt. 1 Pittsville, who were married December 5, 1916, in
Sherwood, were feted Sunday in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The day’s activities began by attendance at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, followed
by a noon dinner for 70 guests. Two bouquets of gold chrysanthemums, a gift of
the grandchildren, were placed on either side of the altar. Open house from 2 to
5 p.m. was held in the Cary town hall.
Attendants at the original wedding
were Mrs. Paul Schwanebeck (the former Anna Rennach), Mrs. William Tullis, Paul
Schwanebeck and George Fluegel. Each was present.
Mr. Fluegel was born in
Rock Island, Ill., and at the age of 15 came to the Sherwood area. Mrs. Fluegel
was born in Cable Rock, Nebr., coming to Sherwood at the age of five.
Mr. and Mrs. Fluegel have lived on the same farm in Sherwood for the last 50
years. They are the parents of three children: Mrs. Richard (Amanda) Wilhorn of
Nekoosa, Mrs. Joe (Loretta) Kaczor of Rt. 3, Neillsville, and Ardo Fluegel, on
the home farm. They also have 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Guests from out of town attending the anniversary gathering were: Mr. and
Mrs. George Fluegel and Mr. and Mrs. James Todd of Rockford, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs.
William Tullis of Waukesha; Mrs. Elmer Benson of Baltone, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Schwanebeck of Ruthton, Minn.; Rev. and Mrs. Buckman, Mr. and Mrs.
Edwin Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Larson and son, and James Peterson, all of
Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Boeck of Loyal; Miss Bonnie Kaczor of Harwood
Heights, Ill.; and the Rev. and Mrs. E. T. Keller and family of Pittsville.
Mr. and Mrs. Fluegel are long time members of a neighborhood card club and
Mrs. Fluegel enjoys making quilts.
