Feutz, Mr./Mrs.
Christian (Gold - OCT 1963)
Mr. and Mrs. Christian Feutz of the Granton,
Rt. 2, area, who were married at the home of the bride's mother on October 1,
1913, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently.
Christian
Feutz, who was born in Switzerland, came to America in 1910 and located in Clark
County in the Sherwood area. He was operating the Sherwood cheese factory at the
time the couple met.
Mrs. Feutz taught school for 12 years before and
after her marriage. She taught in the home schools, Shortville, Cannonville, and
Sleepy Hollow. The farm where Mr. and Mrs. Feutz were married in the town of
Washburn is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams. Mrs. Feutz prefers living
on the farm to town life.
The couple worked the Sherwood cheese factory
for a year, then moved to Cannonville, where Mr. Feutz built the Cannonville
cheese factory on the site where the Spiegel garage now stands.
After
five years they sold the factory and moved onto the farm they purchased from the
late Mr. and Mrs. George Cramer, and where they have lived since.
Mr. and
Mrs. Feutz are the parents of three sons, Lynn Feutz, principal of a Wisconsin
Rapids area school; Roy, a retired air force lieutenant colonel, who runs a
ranch which he recently purchased near Lander, Wyo.; and Donald, who lives at
home. They also have five grandchildren.
On Saturday, September 28, they
were entertained at the Lynn Feutz home near Wisconsin Rapids. All the
relatives, nephews and nieces attended the dinner. Miss Elsie Wolf, bridesmaid
at the original wedding, also was there. Roscoe Galbreath, brother of the bride
who was best man, now lives in Canada and was unable to be present.
Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest Vine of Pleasant Ridge also attended the dinner. Mrs. Vine is a
sister of Mrs. Lynn Feutz.
Open house was held at the Feutz farm home,
with a large attendance. Ice cream, cake and coffee were served. Mrs. W. C.
Koehler sang, "I Love You Truly" and "The 23rd Psalm."
Roy Feutz came for
the wedding celebration and Mr. and Mrs. Feutz took him to Columbus, where he
boarded a train for Lander, Wyo. After a few days' visit with relatives near
Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Feutz returned home last Thursday.
