George Peter Pauly, was born
January 25, 1928 to George Pauly and Agnes (Friedrich) Pauly in Joliet,
Illinois. He died peacefully the morning of June 22nd, 2012 in Owen, Wisconsin.
George's optimism through life's challenges was an inspiration to many who knew
him.
After graduating from Saint Gregory High School in Chicago, IL, he
went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business from Wright Junior College and
Northwestern University in Chicago. He then continued his education at DePaul
University, earning a Master's in Business. George started his working life in
newspaper advertising and teaching in Chicago.
George married Edna Mary
Price on February 7, 1953. In 1956 the two of them travelled to Wisconsin to
help some friends move. They liked it so much that they decided to stay. George
obtained a teaching position at Owen-Withee High School, and there they raised
their four children. He taught at O-W for the next 31 years. During his teaching
career George continued his passion for education by earning a second Master of
Science degree in Education in teaching English from the University of Eau
Claire. For the last six years of his life he resided at the Clark County Health
Care Center.
George loved his family, his faith, literature, music and
languages. He was an avid piano and guitar player, and wrote songs throughout
his life. He loved to garden.
George is survived by his wife Edna
Mary Pauly, his four children; Elizabeth Pauly (William Waddington) of
Minneapolis, MN, Mary (Keith) Isaacs of La Crosse, WI, Kathleen (Danny Rorabeck
) of Hudson, WI and Sean (Michelle) Pauly of Joliet, IL, his eight
grandchildren; Margaret Waddington, Patrick and Cassie Isaacs, Jake, Mallory and
Kelsey Rorabeck, and Nicholas and Logan Pauly, and family friend; Margaret
Trzebiatowski, S.S.J.
The family will receive visitors at 10:00
a.m on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 415 West Third
Street, Owen, WI. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers,
his family asks that memorials be directed to the Memorial Garden at the Clark
County Health Care Center, in honor of the compassionate care provided to George
by the CCHCC staff at 2 West. The address is Clark County Health Care Center,
W4266 State Rd. 29, Owen, WI 54460.
