With April going out as rough as possible and May coming in with about the same vigor, we have hopes now that finer and more reasonable weather is close at hand. The season is late, but it may come quick when things get started.

Mrs. Prust arrived home again last week.

Anton Hogenson came back from Minneapolis Monday night.

Mrs. L.A. Allen and daughter went to Chicago Friday to visit with their husband and father for an indefinite period.

We are living in very serious times at present, there is no question. Our government has called for able, young men to enlist in the Army for defense of the country. As long as our government calls, the people ought to obey, though it seems perhaps hard on some of our citizens. According to the word of God, the highest authority over all nations, we must be obedient to the government that is. There is the problem of food for this nation, also for other nations. Also there will be quite a few that will say, can I not do on my farm as I please, is it not my property? This is all well and good, but we owe it to our government, to our fellow citizens, and to our neighbors of other nations to make extra efforts to plant and seed. This also is part of God’s will, to show our love to him and mankind, it will not do to follow our own mind and to be obstinate. It is a serious time, where men will be tried. Therefore I say let us not fail, but give our government what is due, namely obedience and preserve a good conscience, for we do not know what is to come in the near future or in more distant time.

By next week Ernest Neinas will have moved into the H. Henning place and H. Henning moved upstairs at A. Hogenson’s.

E.A. Webster’s auction has been postponed till next week on account of bad weather.

According to the number of apple trees delivered these days, apples will be plentiful in a few years.

Geo. Allen was in Neillsville on business a few times last week.
