Scheibe, Gottlieb (10 Nov 1834 - 7 DEC 1906)
Gottlieb Scheibe was born in Stanan, Saxon,
Germany, Nov. 10th, 1834. He immigrated to America in 1857, coming to Sheboygan
Co. with his parents and settled on a farm in the town of Mosel. Later he worked
on a farm near Milwaukee, then left for Manistee, Mich., where he was married to
Frederika Buessert in 1860. He worked in the sawmills and lumber camps for some
time. He removed to Plymouth and settled on a farm and farmed it there until
1881, when he came to the town of Holton, Marathon Co., and made that his home
ever since. He was ill but a short time when he died Friday evening, and was
buried from the Peace Evangelical Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Jankee
officiating. There survived his widow and eight children, five boys and three
girls, namely Henry, Charles, Herman, Robert, Edwin, Emelia, Ida and Anna, of
which all but Robert were present at the funeral. The Herald with the entire
community sympathizes with the bereaved ones.
