Funeral services for Mike S. Teclaw, 70, of the
town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), were conducted by Rev. Donald Halaska at ten
o’clock on Thursday morning, Nov. 9th at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church here.
Military services were accorded by the American Legion Post No. 118, with firing
squad and taps at the grave.
Mr. Teclaw died suddenly of a heart attack
while attending a show at the Thorp Theater on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5, 1961.
The deceased was born in Chicago on Sept. 23, 1891. He united in marriage to
Verna Stroinski on May 20, 1920 in St. Paul, Minn.
Shortly after his
marriage he moved to Michigan where he operated his first cheese factory and two
years later came to Lublin, Wis., where he originated the Lublin Dairy in 1923.
Moving to the Town of Thorp in 1928 he operated the Wild Cherry Cheese Factory
until 1933, when he built the Cark County Cheese Factory located in the Town of
Withee, Clark County, which he later discontinued and is now the location of
Tec’s Cozy Inn. Other factories managed and operated by Mr Teclaw were the
Lombard Dairy Factory No. 1, the White Birch Factory and the Pleasant Hill
Cheese Factory.
He was an ex-service man of the First World War and
member of the American Legion Post and Polish National Alliance of Thorp.
Besides his wife Verna, he is survived by seven sons, Malen of Thorp, Marion
of Luverne, Minn., Raymond of Minneapolis, Richard of Eau Claire, Norbert of
Beaver Dam, David of Towner, N.D., and Al of Oshkosh, Wis.; three daughters,
Angeline of Chicago, Lillian, Mrs. Leon Kaczmarek and Marcella, Mrs. Leonard
Szymanski of Thorp; two brothers, Joe of Vancouver, Wash. and Ed of San Antonio,
Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Milewski of Thorp and Mrs. Estelle Larson of
Aberdeen, Wash., and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents,
a daughter, Florence, a son, Leon, a brother, Vincent, and three sisters,
Sophia, Magdalena, and Theresa.
He was laid to rest in St. Hedwig’s New
Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons, Al, Malen, Marion, Raymond, Norbert and
Richard.
Relatives and friends from out of town who were here to attend
the funeral were from Vancouver, Wash., Chicago, San Antonio, Texas, Mt.
Prospect, Ill., Palatine, Ill. Luverne, Minn., Minneapolis, St. Paul, Eau
Claire, Chippewa Falls, Beaver Dam, Antigo, Wausau, Owen, Gilman, Stanley and
Lublin, Wis., and Towner, N.D.
