Endner, Frank (Fatal accident - 5 NOV 1914)

Frank Endner, a brakeman in the employ of the Omaha railway company, met his death about 10 o’clock Thursday night a mile east of Merrillan, having in some manner fallen from freight train No. 70 west bound. Death is supposed to have been instantaneous. Just how the accident happened is not known, but the supposition is that in running along the top of the cars, Endner stumbled and fell from the moving train to his death. The victim of the sad fatality was not missed until the train had reached Augusta. Information of the fact that Endner was missing was wired back to Merrillan and section men were sent out to locate him. As previously stated, the body was found a mile east of Merrillan by the side of a little stream about forty feet from the track. The remains were brought to Altoona, the body having been prepared for shipment at Merrillan under the direction of the masons of the place. The deceased, who is thirty-five years of age, is survived by his wife and one child. His mother residing at Camp Douglas also survives, as do two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. The victim of the accident was a resident of Altoona and was a young man who was well and favorably known.
