Crandall, Jessie May (Mrs. L.A.) (2 MAR 1879 - 7 NOV 1914)

The uncertainty of life has again been brought forcibly to mind by the sudden passing of Mrs. L.A. Crandall, whose death occurred at her home in this city on Saturday, November 7, at the early age of 35 years.

The mother of four interesting children, she gave her life for the priceless boon of motherhood, and only survived a few hours after the birth of her fifth child, which died at birth.

Mrs. Crandall was a woman devoted to her home and children. To her husband and children her loss is irreparable. She was a valued member of the Parent-Teacher Circle and was an efficient officer when the club was organized. She was also a member of the Woman’s Civic Club, and while her home duties prevented her from taking an active part, she was always willing to help in every way possible. In her church relations she affiliated with the Presbyterian, and the funeral service, which was held at the family residence on Monday afternoon, was conducted by Rev. W.S. McCullagh, assisted by Rev. Jameson. Out of respect to the family, the business houses were closed while the services were held. The large number present and the many beautiful floral offerings testified to the high esteem in which Mrs. Crandall was held.

The maiden name of Mrs. Crandall was Jessie May Roberts, and she was born in Neillsville, Wis., March 2, 1879. She came to Lebanon with her parents about fifteen years ago, and was married to Mr. Crandall in this city December 24, 1901. Besides her husband and children, she leaves her parents, two sisters--Mrs. H.C. Witman of Lebanon and Mrs. Geo. Roberts of Prineville, and one brother, Archie Roberts, of Salem. Her mother, Mrs. Roberts, had been with her for a few weeks and will remain with the bereaved family.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family.--Lebanon, Oregon, paper.
