Selection Of Case In Krueger Case Is Slow
Neillsville - Little progress
in selection of a jury which will try Mrs. Carline Krueger and her two sons,
Frank and Leslie, on a charge of killing Harry Jensen, station agent at Withee,
Wis., during a pitched battle with a sheriff’s posse last September, while the
Krueger German boys were resisting arrest in a charge of failing to register for
the selective draft, was made today.
Eighteen venire men remain out of
seventy-five which were summoned. The jury will be drawn from these eighteen.
Counsels for state and defendants are examining each prospective juror carefully
and at their present rate of speed in examination, if it is continued, a jury
probably will not be completed before Wednesday afternoon. The courtroom is
crowded with spectators, but there has been no demonstration.
The state
has announced that the Krueger’s will be tried collectively on the murder charge
and this is taken as an indication of the desire of the state for a speedy
trial.
