Mrs.
Krueger Asks Return Of Property
Madison, June 14 - Statements were made
to the United States marshall here today by Mrs. Krueger, mother of three
alleged draft dodgers, one of whom was killed by federal officials in 1918,
asking that the property of her dead son, taken by officials, be returned to
her.
The property includes valuables, legal documents, a watch and $45
in cash.
“It’s a funny kind of government that would order a citizen
killed for committing some little offence and then take what belongs to him. It
isn’t a government at all.”
The tree Krueger boys were charged with
attempting to evade the draft, barricading themselves in their home at Owen in
1918, and resisting federal officials. In the fight that ensued one boy was
killed and the others arrested.
