Hughes, James E. (18 August 1887 - 1966)
Funeral services were conducted
Wednesday forenoon from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville for James E.
Hughes, 79, of R.1 Greenwood, who died Saturday at his home. The Rev. George M.
Nelson officiated with burial made in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Hughes
was born August 18, 1887, in Greenwood. He attended Greenwood area schools and
was a veteran of World War I. Following in his discharge from service he was
engaged in farming and did electrical work. He had been ill for the last year.
On November 11, 1930, he was married to the former Genevieve Carskaden in
Neillsville, who survives. Also surviving are a son, James Jr., at home and a
brother, William Hughes of Neillsville.
A rosary service was held
Tuesday evening at the Georgas Funeral Home. Mr. Hughes was a member of St.
Mary’s Catholic Church.
