Walter Orest (13 March 1957 - 18 June 2012) With Flag
Walter O. Iwanczuk,
age 55, of Thorp, formerly of Green Bay, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012,
at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau. Funeral services were held on Tuesday,
June 26, 2012 at 6:00 p.m., at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp, with Rev. Don
Meuret officiating. Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, from 5:00
p.m. to 6:00 p.m., also at Thorp Funeral Home.
Walter Orest Iwanczuk was
born on March 13, 1957, in Flushing, New York, the son of Adrian and Lillian
(Pytak) Iwanczuk. He was raised in Flushing and received his education at Holy
Cross, a local catholic school. He received an Associates Degree in Finance from
St. John’s University in New York City. After completing his education, Walter
enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After his
honorable discharge from the Army, Walter worked on Wall Street in New York for
many years. He moved to Green Bay, WI in 1990 where he started his own painting
company, Ivanhoe’s Painting, and continued with that until he retired in 2006.
He moved to Thorp, WI in June of 2010 with his girlfriend so he could enjoy
retirement in a beautiful rural community.
Walter had many interests, but
he especially loved being around people, family and friends, and sharing a good
laugh. He also loved spending time in the outdoors hunting and playing golf.
He is survived by his father, Adrian Iwanczuk of Flushing, NY; one sister,
Natalie Iwanczuk, of Hartford, CT; his wife, Natalie Naze of Green Bay, WI; two
sons: Joseph Iwanczuk of Brookville, PA and Thomas Iwanczuk of Delano, MN; three
daughters: Elizabeth Iwanczuk of Aurora, CO, Christina Iwanczuk of Parker, CO,
and Alexandria Iwanczuk of Stanley, WI. He is also survived by his long-term
girlfriend, Nanette Criss of Thorp.
Walter was preceded in death by his
mother, Lillian Iwanczuk.
