Malnar Genevieve Elizabeth (30 November 1918 - 25 June 2012)
Genevieve Elizabeth Malnar, age 93, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on
Monday, June 25, 2012, at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
Genevieve was
born on November 30, 1918, to Fred and Mary (Kozar) Shiltz in Aurora, MN. She
attended school in Aurora until moving to Willard, WI with her family in 1926.
She then attended the Willard State Graded School through the ninth grade.
Genevieve married Emil Joseph Malnar on August 20, 1938. They farmed in the
Town of Longwood until 1974 when they moved to Marshfield. They worked part time
at the Marshfield Dental Clinic for about ten years. In their spare time, they
enjoyed gardening, garage sales, participating in activities at the Senior
Center, playing cards and casino trips. Emil and Genevieve enjoyed several trips
after leaving their farm, including a three-week excursion to Slovenia and
Croatia plus trips to Canada, Florida, New England, Niagara Falls and several
western states. Genevieve was an avid reader of non-fiction books and newspapers
and also enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and especially family visits.
Genevieve is survived by one daughter, Maxine (Gerald) Glasshof of
Marshfield; two granddaughters: Jacqueline Glasshof, Marshfield and Kathleen
O’Keefe, Hammond, WI; one great-grandson, Sean O’Keefe, Hammond. She is further
survived by one sister, Mary Kebl of Black River Falls, WI; one brother, Fred
(Lorraine) Shiltz, Marshfield; two nieces: Dorothy (Stan) Pernic, Melrose, WI
and DR. Karen Shiltz, Westlake Village, CA; one nephew, Ralph Kebl, Black River
Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil, in 1997; her
parents; and one nephew, Gary Shiltz.
A private interment service will be
held at a later date at the Hillside Cemetery Marshfield.
