Paulus, Janie M. (9 July 1881 - 27
January 1967)
Funeral services were held Monday morning from St. Mary’s
Catholic Church for Mrs. Janie M. Paulus, 85, of Memorial Home, who died there
Friday. The Rev. George M. Nelson officiated and burial was made in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Paulus was born July 9, 1881, Clark
County and had spent her lifetime in the area. She was the daughter of the late
William and Lucinda (Dwyer) Farning. On April 23, 1902, she was married to Mark
Welch, who died in 1905. Her marriage to James Paulus took place in 1910. Mr.
Paulus died in 1944.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and
an honorary member of its Parish Council of Catholic Women.
Mrs. Paulus
is survived by two foster children, Mrs. Ernest (Gertrude) Snyder of
Neillsville, and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Hemp of the Azores; and by several nieces,
nephew and cousins.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral
Home, where a rosary service was held Sunday evening.
Pallbearers were:
Herman and Ray Moen, John Swenson, Henry Markwardt, H. G. Haight and Ray
Kutsche.
People from away attending the funeral included: Mrs. Robert
Hemp of the Azores; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Shaw of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs.
John Wyer and family of Ripon; Mrs. Margaret Butler and Miss Jonette Sturgeon,
both of Anaheim, Cal.; Mr. and Mrs. James Gault and Mr. and Mrs. George Gault,
of Superior; Mr. and Mrs. William Hughes of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Danihel
and family of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Farning of Colby; and Mrs. Harry
Middleton of Beaver Dam.
