Gilley, Sharon (4 Dec 1938 – 14 May 1977)

Memorial services were held at Grace Lutheran Church, Tomahawk, May 17, 1977 for Mrs. Sharon (Sauter) Gilley, age 37, of Tomahawk.

The Rev. Raymond Boyens and the Rev. David Kramer officiated at the 7:30 p.m. rites. Mrs. Gilley donated her body to science.

Mrs. Gilley passed away Saturday, May 14, 1977 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Tomahawk.

She was born December 4, 1938 to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sauter, Dorchester. She married Leonard M. Gilley in Dorchester August 11, 1962. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Stout in 1962 and taught at the Lincoln Hills School. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and its choir, and taught Sunday school.

Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Eric and Sean, both at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sauter, Dorchester; a brother, Randy Sauter, Marathon, and two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Van Slate, Wausau, and Cari Sauter, Dorchester.

Cub Scout Pack 621 of Abbotsford met recently for genius night and muscle builders. Ribbons were presented to all the boys who made genius projects, which were judged by Tom Slowinski, Abbotsford Public Schools art teacher.

Speical recognition was given to the following boys: Rodney Hoffmann, wolf badge and gold arrow; Kristofer Smith, wolf badge; Pat Broeske, bear badge, gold arrow, and two silver arrows; Fred Grambort, gold arrow; Lanny Viegut, geologist, and Robert Strobach, aquanaut, scholar, showman and arrow of light.

Wenda Gail Schwoch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schwoch Jr., Dorchester, was among the more than 100 winners of Stout Foundation Scholarships, announced by Jack Wile, executive director of the foundation.

Miss Schwoch, a senior majoring in applied mathematics at Stout, was awarded a $100 Mae F. Lampert Scholarship from the foundation.

The Weideman farm, located a mile east of Abbotsford, and handed down in the family for three generations, has now passed on to a fourth generation. Roger Weideman purchased the farm from his father, Ed Weideman on May 1, 1977.

The engagement of Diane Clewell to Chet Pawlowicz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Pawlowicz, Colby, is announce by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Clewell, Wales.

Miss Clewell is an alumnus of Kettle Moraine High School, graduating there in 1971. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Stevens Point in 1975, and completed work for a Master’s degree at UW-Stout in May of this year.

Pawlowicz graduated from Colby High School in 1971 and earned a Bachelor’s degree at UW-Stevens Point in 1975. He is currently employed by Galvan Truck and Equipment in Abbotsford.

The wedding will take place at the Delafield Presbyterian Church on July 23, 1977.

Carol Ann Kops and Bill R. Meyer were united in marriage Saturday, May 21, 1977 at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.

Officiating at the 2:45 p.m. marriage rites was the Rev. Robin Fink.

The bride approached the altar in a gown he designed and made. It was of ivory chiffon and satin, featuring chiffon sleeves and a circular yoke. The satin bodice and overskirt were trimmed with cording. Her A0line skirt had corded panels with full chiffon ruffle bordering the hemline. Fresh flowers encircled the matching chiffon headpiece of her veil. She carried a bouquet of orchids, stephanotis and trailing ivory.

Paula Kops, Route 1, Unity, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Kim Evans, Bangor, a friend of the bride, was the bridesmaid. They wore light green knit dresses with a sweetheart neckline and empire waist. They each carried a basket of white and yellow daisies and wore matching hats trimmed with chiffon.

Dean Ruppert, La Crosse, a friend of the bridegroom, was best man, and Gene Ruppert, Clintonville, another friend of the bridegroom, was his attendant.

Completing the wedding party were ushers Gregory Kops and Bradley Kops, both brothers of the bride.

A reception and dinner were held at the church. A dance followed at the Sword.

The bride will continue her education at Northern Illinois University at De Kalb as a senior. Meyer is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Stout, and is employed in Rockford, Illinois, where the couple will live.

Becky Hull became the bride of Jim Poirier Saturday, May 21, 1977. They repeated their vows at the First Baptist Church of Medford, with the Rev. H. Strauss officiating.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hull, Abbotsford, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Poirier, Stetsonville.

Miss Hull selected a gown of satin knit with long full sleeves and standup collar for her wedding day. The veil of sheer illusion was attached to a satin headpiece. Her bouquet was a cascade of white carnations, white stephanotis and red roses.

Kathy Hull was maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were Jeannie Poirier and Susan Reinhart. They were attired in light blue sleeveless dresses with lace on the bodice and featuring standup collar.

Attending the bridegroom were Dave Rindt, best man, John Deml and Tom Waldhart, groomsmen.

A reception dinner for about 250 guests followed the 2:30 p.m. wedding.

The newlyweds will make their home in Wausau, where the bride is completing her nurses training. Poirier is a graduate of NCTI and employed at Hurd Millworks, Medford.

They are taking a honeymoon trip to Colorado.

The Rev. Edward Riddick, pastor of the Alliance Missionary Church, Marshfield, officiated at the 8 p.m. marriage ceremony of Gerriann Ruth Hoffman and Richard Gordon Lawson on Saturday, May 21, 1977.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hoffman, Route 1, Unity, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lawson, Holly, Michigan.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white knit entrained gown with an empire waist accented with lace. She wore a fingertip veil and carried a bouquet of white roses, stephanotis, white miniature pompoms and baby’s breath.

Mrs. Gloria Fischer, Marshfield, a friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Sarah Hoffman and Lynn Hoffman, Unity, sisters of the bride, were attendants.

They wore light blue, peach and pale green gowns respectively. Each carried a nosegay of blue, peach and green daisies with baby’s breath. Their headpieces were daisy and baby’s breath flowers.

Jeff Lawson, Holly, Michigan, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Randy Gregory, Edgar, a friend of the bridegroom, and Jerry Hoffman, the bride’s brother, were groomsmen.

Howard Hoffman, Unity, and Bob Plew, Holly, Michigan, were ushers.

A reception was held in the church dining room.

The bride graduated from Colby High School in 1976. Her husband, employed at Land O’ Lakes, Spencer, is a graduate of Holly High School in 1976. The couple will live in Colby.
