The high school closed last Friday, and on Saturday, Prof.
Sims treated his scholars, their parents and several other teachers to a picnic
on the banks of the raging Eau Pleine (although it does not rage much at this
time) which was hugely enjoyed by all participants until just before time to
return home, when Miss Georgine Englehard had the misfortune to badly sprain her
right ankle.
She was brought home in advance of the balance of the
picnickers, by Prof. Sims, and at this writing is unable to use the injured
member.
With the exception of this one accident and one custard pie that
disappeared, as the ladies avow, through the instrumentally (that’s what they
call it now) of Prof. Sims, the picnic was a grand success.
