Loretta L.
Weller, age 90 of Colby, was born into eternal life Friday June 29, 2012. She
resided at the Colonial Center in Colby.
Funeral services will be held
1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the First United Church of Christ in Colby.
Pastor Terri Hanson and Pastor Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Burial will be in
the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be; Darron
Dahl, Brad Newman, John Johnson, David Hoffman, Gary Kasdorff and David
Stettler. Christopher Sablich and Jeff Dahl will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Colby is assisting the family with
arrangements.
Loretta was born May 12, 1922, to Victor and Marie (Hunger)
Stettler. She attended Riverside Country Grade School until the eight grade.
Loretta worked at the local Hardware store in Colby.
On September 9, 1944, at
the First United Church of Christ in Colby, Loretta was united in marriage to
George Weller. He preceded Loretta in death on Dec 27, 2009.
Loretta
worked beside her husband on the family farm. She also worked as a cook at the
Colby High School and was a sales clerk at Skogmos Clothing Store in Abbotsford
for many years.
She enjoyed her family, Loretta especially cherished the
time she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed
cooking and baking, especially decorating special birthday cakes. Loretta was
famous for her rhubarb custard pies and poppy seed cakes.
She was an active
member of the Cherokee Chums 4-H Club, achieving many awards, including the “Key
Award”. She remained active with the 4-H for many years, serving for the foods
projects and on the county board and was a member of the 4H Leaders Federation
in Marathon County.
Loretta was a member of the First United Church of
Christ in Colby. She also spent many hours working at the Uptown Bar in Colby
helping her daughter and son-in-law with the business.
She enjoyed
traveling, taking trips to Hawaii, Germany, Alaska, as well as many local trips.
She enjoyed country music and took several trips to Branson, MO.
She is
lovingly survived by her son, Richard (Kathy) Weller, Burnsville, Minn., a
daughter, Eileen (Russ) Dahl, Colby; five grandchildren, Debbie (Chris) Sablich,
Darron (Kay) Dahl, Tina (Brad) Newman, Amy (John) Johnson, Laura (Jeremy)
Johnson, 4 Step-Grandchildren, Valerie Dahl, Scott (Vivian) Dahl, Jeffrey
(Jackie) Dahl and Julie Karaba; 11 great-grandchildren and 12
step-great-grandchildren and five step–great-great grandchildren. One brother,
Lawrence (Adelle) Stettler, Abbotsford and a special cousin Olive Sheets of
Marshfield as well as many nieces and nephews further survive Loretta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, John.
The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home Colby is assisting the family with
funeral arrangements.
