Funeral service were conducted by Rev. R.
Olson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, Friday afternoon, Jan. 12 for Mrs.
Herman Buss, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1962 of a heart attack at the home
of her daughter.
Mary Zimmer was born in Ottawa, Canada June 16, 1877 and
came to Wisconsin with her parents and family when a small child. They settled
on a farm in the town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.). In 1894 she was united in
marriage to Carl Roesler and lived on a farm in the town of Reseburg.
After the death of her husband, she was united in marriage to Herman Buss on
Oc.t 5, 1910 by Rev. Bubeck at Cadott, and lived on the same farm. They retired
in the spring of 1945 and moved to Stanley, where they had lived since 1959,
when her husband passed away, thereafter she stayed with her son and daughters.
Surviving are three sons and five daughters, Wm. Roesler and Hugo Roesler of
Thorp, (Clara) Mrs. Hans Knutson, Eau Claire, (Hilma) Mrs. Ed Ramberg, Thorp,
(Orlena) Mrs. Rev. Sprangler, Dorchester, (Gertrude) Mrs. John Barth, Thorp,
Robert Buss, Chippewa Falls, (Mary) Mrs. Reuben Rossman, Thorp, eleven
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Burial was made in the East
Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Emil Welzien, Louis Pagel, Herman Doege, Elmer
Sachs, Elmer Kuester, Gordon Sorkness.
