Granton (16 March 1967)
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Spangler and children of
Chester, N. J., who are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schmidtke of
rural Granton, and his mother, Mrs. Bessie Spangler of Neillsville were dinner
guests Monday at the William Schmidtke home. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schmidtke also
were guests.
Mrs. Leo Dankemyer of Neenah spent several days recently as
a house guest of Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidtke. They also visited area friends.
The Rev. L. L. McCormick of Chili conducted Lenten services Tuesday
evening in the Granton Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lloyd Spry returned home
Sunday from Wild Rose, where she spent several days with her daughter and
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Anderson, and baby, who brought her home.
Frank Roehl, a former barber in Granton, is convalescing at his home in Hancock
following a period of hospitalization in a Wild Rose hospital. He suffered an
apparent heart attack. Mrs. Roehl is a former Granton grade school teacher.
While Mrs. Lloyd Spry was in Wild Rose she visited Mr. Roehl at the hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lowe of Marshfield were guests Monday at the Leonard
Thiede home.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bladl of Ripon spent the weekend at their
home in Granton and visited their daughters, Mrs. Dale Wesenberg and Mrs. Vernon
Steinbach, and families. Mr. and Mrs. Bladl were dinner guests Friday of Mr. and
Mrs. Ollie Poler.
Kenneth Reinart of Alma Center visited one day last
week with his grandmother, Mrs. Ollie Poler.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kleinschmidt
had all their children and their families’ home Sunday in honor of Mrs.
Kleinschmidt’s birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Opelt and two children of
White Bear Lake, Minn., spent the weekend visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Max Opelt and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Garbisch.
Mrs. L. C. Kirk, who spent
several days at her home in St. Paul, Minn., has returned to the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Marvin Garbisch. She was accompanied to Granton by Mrs. Walter
Annen of Loyal, who had been visiting her daughter in St. Paul.
Mr. and
Mrs. John Paun entertained relatives and friends Sunday in honor of the second
birthday of their daughter, Renee.
Granton Public Schools will close
Good Friday for the Easter vacation. The other days normally used for the
vacation will be used to make up days missed because of inclement weather during
the winter.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Schlinsog visited Sunday in Wabeno with her
father, brothers and sisters.
The March meeting of the Men’s Club of Zion
Lutheran Church was held in the church hall. Sixteen members heard a talk by
Eugene Trimberger of Neillsville, state probation and parole office, who spoke
on “Social Welfare Problems.” A lunch was served by Jerry Marg and Marvin
Garbisch.
