Mr.
and Mrs. Richard L. Perry were initiated Saturday evening in the Order of
Eastern Star in the Masonic Temple. Mrs. Larry Langreck of Madison was
conductress. Mrs. W. C. Koehler was soloist.
Bethel No. 40, Jobs
Daughters, attended the honored queen’s “Go to Church” service in the Methodist
Church. It is the custom of the Bethel to attend a service of the queen’s church
in a body.
Mr. and Mrs. William Kent of Clinton, Ia., were guests a few
days last week of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Holt. Later last week the
Kents completed moving to Galesburg, Ill., where he has work.
Mr. and
Mrs. Warren Huddleston and son, Craig, and his friend, Jeff Wood, of Rensselaer,
Ind., were weekend house guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Thornton. The Huddleston’s
are former Neillsville residents.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hubing spent a few
days last week in Ellsworth with their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Jacob, and daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Langreck of Madson spent eh
weekend at their house on Hewett Street.
Miss Bernadine Peterson
returned Sunday to Madison following a visit of several days with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Peterson. Guests Sunday at the Peterson home was Miss Carol
Peterson of Eau Claire, and a fellow teacher, Miss Pearl Moh.
Mrs. Elroy
Johnson and Mrs. Jerry Johnson and two children visited Sunday in Mondovi at the
Mrs. Vera Deetz home. Mrs. Elroy Johnson and Mrs. Deetz, who are sisters,
celebrated their birthdays. Joining the family group was another sister and
family of Colfax, and the ladies’ father, who also lives in Colfax.
Mrs.
Gladys Douyette has returned to Woodruff following a visit of several days at
the Earl Zille home, while her sister, Mrs. Zille was a hospital patient. Mrs.
Zille is convalescing at home.
David K. Schmidt, son of Mrs. Maxine
Schmidt, who was recently promoted to airman, second class, left Friday for six
month’s temporary duty in Guam.
Ed Reich and son, Ira, of Valparaiso,
Ind., former Town of Levis residents, arrived Friday evening for a weekend visit
with former neighbors and friends. They were overnight guests Friday and
Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carl in Washburn. They were accompanied by Bill
Kuehnke, also of Valparaiso, and son-in-law of Mr. Reich.
Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Cleveland of Rhinelander, and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Cleveland of Wausau,
visited Sunday at the Loal Cleveland home. Their father, Mr. Cleveland returned
home Friday from Memorial Hospital, where he had been confined with pneumonia.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hagie and Brian of Marshfield visited Sunday at the
Arthur Norman and Mrs. Amelia Hagie homes.
Charles Scholtz of Germantown
was a weekend guest at the Lewis Scholtz home.
Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Scholtz
and son of Eau Claire, who had been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Spaete, in Granton, visited Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Scholtz.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ray drove to Stevens Point Friday evening, from where
they were accompanied by their daughter, Sherri, to Shorewood for a weekend
visit with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ray.
Mrs. John Peterson was hostess to her
bridge club Monday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Cardarella of West Bend
were weekend guests of her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Karnitz. They also visited his
sister, Mrs. Amelia Hagie, and his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Cardarella, and with her father, Tom Wren, who is a patient in Memorial
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Larsen and two sons of Marshfield were
guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Allen, Sunday. Joining the group to
celebrate Jeff Larsen’s 15th birthday was Mrs. Gerelda Larsen.
Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Dahl and family of Loyal visited Sunday at the Robert Shaw home.
Mr. and Mrs. John Mazola, Jr., and family, Miss Lois Howard and fiancé, Al
Neumann, all of Milwaukee, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Howard.
Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Howard celebrated their birthdays, which are the same day.
Joining the group was Miss Melony Prokes of Granton. Jerry Howard, who is
stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., with a National Guard unit, called his
parents Sunday.
