Barr, Mabel Irene (4 November
1910 - 1967)
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Georgas
Funeral Home for Mrs. Charles Barr, 56, Neillsville, who died here last
Thursday.
The Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ
officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Barr, the
former Mabel Irene Shupe, was born November 4, 1910, in Loyal, daughter of the
late Frank and Julia (Emerson) Shupe. Following graduation from the Loyal High
school she worked for several years in the H. R. Baird Store in Granton. On
August 4, 1934, she was married to Charles Barr in Greenwood. She has resided in
Neillsville since 1934 and for many years had served on the election board here.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Loyal, and the American
Legion Auxiliary of Neillsville.
Surviving are her husband; two
daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Stigen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Marvin
(Carol) Pischer of Black River Falls; and a son, Tom, of Minneapolis, Minn.
Other survivors are: five sisters, Mrs. Jess (Vivian) Raab of Loyal, Mrs. Jack
(Helen) Fahey of Stanley, Mrs. H. R. (Ione) Baird of Greenwood, Mrs. Lawrence
(Nettie) Davel of Loyal, and Mrs. Willard (Elsie) Ziemendorf of Wisconsin
Rapids; two brothers, Glenn Shupe of Spencer and Jack Shupe of Berlin; and by
six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Dale Kauffman, Jerry Baird, Robert
Baird, Ronald Davel, Ervin Steiger and David Hopfer.
Ellis Wall,
accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott, sang, “Softly and Tenderly,” and “Lead Kindly
Light.”

and Mrs. Marvin Pischer and family of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fahey

Jack Shupe and Miss Jackie Shupe of Berlin; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Shupe of Spencer;
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Baird of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baird of Eau
Claire; Ronald Davel of Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Ylvisaker of Stoughton;
Mrs. Norman Larson of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Darcy Gross and David Hopfer of
Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Argil Stigen of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brauneis of
Faribault, Minn.; Mrs. Elsie Nyeland of Kansas City, Mo.; Fred Dinkle of
Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Velma Carrall of Chippewa Falls; Floyd Hagen, Harold
Jarver, Peter Beck, J. A. June, Donald Dundas and daughter, Jane, all of Eau
Claire.

Zettler, Mrs. Hazel Trindal, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Volk, Mrs. Bertha Nelson, and
Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Olson.
The personnel of the Neillsville Northern
States office attended the service in a body.
