Leatherdale,
Amos (killed by horse - 20 DEC 1914)
Mr. Amos Leatherdale, son of L.
Leatherdale of our village, was instantly killed last Sunday when kicked by one
of his horses. Mr. Leatherdale resided on a farm one-half mile north of
Spokeville where the accident occurred. In the morning Mr. Leatherdale and
family drove to Loyal where they attended church, after church they returned
home arriving there about one o’clock. Mrs. Leatherdale and children went into
the house while he took the horses to the barn and while unharnessing them, in
some manner unknown, was kicked by one of them, instantly killing him. At about
1:30 Mrs. Leatherdale, wondering why he did not come to dinner, went to the barn
and found him dead, lying near the manger. Dr. Richmond was at once called who,
upon examining the body, found that the horse had kicked him in the right side
of the face, striking the temple.
Mr. Leatherdale was a well known man
about 49 years of age. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, five children, his
father, a brother, a sister and many other relatives and friends who extend
their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family. -- Loyal Tribune
