Bradbury, Sarah A. (23 MAY 1832 - 15 DEC 1914)
Mrs. Sarah A. Bradbury died on Tuesday, Dec. 15th, at her home in Hixton,
her death having been caused by accidental burning. Mrs. Bradbury was preparing
dinner and was alone at the time, her daughter having just stepped out to feed
the chickens. In some manner her clothing caught fire and she was terribly
burned about the body. She lingered until 5 o’clock of the same day when death
relieved her sufferings. She was quite an aged lady and therefore did not have
sufficient strength to overcome her injuries.
Mrs. Bradbury was born in
England and at the time of her death was 82 years, 6 months and 22 days of age.
She was married in England to Simeon Bradbury and they came to this country soon
after, locating in Bedford, Mass. In 1878 the Bradbury family moved to Hixton
and took up their residence. Mr. Bradbury died in 1902 and with the exception of
three years spent in this city, Hixton remained the home of Mrs. Bradbury until
her death. She was a bright and cheerful lady, esteemed by all who knew her and
possessed of a most charitable and kindly disposition. She is survived by two
sons and one daughter, Miss Mary of Hixton, Dr. E.L. Bradbury of Neillsville and
J.H. Bradbury of Fond du Lac. The funeral was held last Thursday interment being
made in the Sechlerville Cemetery.
