Shotswell, Ed (? - March 1967)

Mrs. Bert Corey (The former Betty Kelsh) has sent this clipping taken from the Great Falls, Mont., Tribune, thinking it would be of interest to people here.

Fairview: Ed Shotswell, 85, was found dead in his bed at his home in Fairview, Mont. Tuesday. Death was due to natural causes. Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Community Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Wilbur Whanger officiating. Burial was made in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born in Merrillan, and came to Montana in 1906 from North Dakota. He homesteaded in Nohly community and married Mabel McNary, June 28, 1925, at Sidney. They lived in Buford, N. D., and in 1934 moved to Fairview.

Survivors include his wife, two step-sons, Graydon Darr of East Glacier and Lester Darr of Fairview; a step-daughter, Mrs. Russell Dishon of Sidney, a sister and half-sister and two half-brothers, including Frank Shotswell of Havre, Mont.

Comment: A Shotswell family, Charley Shotswell and family lived in the Houghtonburg area for many years. They had two daughters, both deceased, and two sons, Fredrick living near Stillwater, Minn., and Lowell, living on the home farm in the Houghtonburg area.

Perhaps this item might be of interest to Lowell Shotswell, who since the death of his parents may have lost track of relatives from the west.
