Funeral services were held Monday
morning, March 5th, from St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp, Wis. for George
Haas, 77, who passed away Friday, March 2, 1962 at St. Joseph’s Hospital,
Chippewa Falls, after a lingering illness.
The Rev. Father Brockman
officiated at the 10 o’clock Requiem Mass. Burial was in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Vernon and Davis Haas of Cadott, Duane and
Marvin Schultz, Chicago, John Budzinski Jr. and Dennis Danielewicz of Thorp.
Honorary pallbearers were Brother Foresters, Anton Baldeschwiler, Ray
Ketterhagen, John Maier, Wilfred Vanderhyden, George Maier, and Gilbert Voelker.
Mr. Haas, a retired farmer, was born at Chilton, Wis. on May 15, 1884. He
came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) at about the age of 6 years and lived on a farm
in the town of Worden.
He was married to Mary Kocherer on Sept. 28, 1909
at Thorp, Wis., who preceded him in death on April 5th, 1949. Two infant
children and two sisters also preceded him in death.
Those who survive
are three sons and 4 daughters, Conrad of Cadott, Mrs. John (Margaret) Budzinski
of Thorp, Bernard of Cadott, Mrs. Frank (Annabelle) Budzinski of Wheaton, Ill.,
Mrs. Lawrence (Marcella) Schultz of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Zigmund (Marietta)
Danielewicz, and Leonard of Thorp, thirty-three grandchildren, six
great-grandchildren, three brothers, Robert, Joseph and Casper, and three
sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Margaret) Kass, Mrs. Frank (Anna) Smidtke of Thorp, and
Mrs. Oscar (Elizabeth) Boie of Menasha, Wis.
