Decker, Betty (Marriage - 1 April
1967)
Miss Betty Decker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Decker of Owen,
and Robert Missling, of Shawano, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Missling of Withee,
were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony performed Saturday by the Rev.
Robert Goessling in the Congregational United Church in Owen. The altar flowers
were bouquets of white gladioli and yellow daffodils. White bows marked the
pews.
One hundred sixty-five guests witnessed as Mr. Decker gave his
daughter in marriage.
For her wedding the bride chose a floor length
bridal gown of sheer organza over taffeta in traditional white. The fitted
bodice was enhanced with long tapered sleeves and a demure scoop neckline.
Appliqués of Alencon lace with tiny pearl clusters graced the bodice. The
semi-bouffant skirt swept into a full chapel train. A tiara of sheer petals
trimmed with pearls, secured her bouffant veil of sheer illusion. Her bridal
bouquet was made of yellow tea roses and white stephanotis.
Miss Diane
Miller of rural Withee was her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Cathy Decker
and Mrs. Jerry Prepeluh. The attendants wore floor length ensembles of Nile
green peau de soie. Their empire sheaths were sleeveless. They wore veils of
Nile green, highlighted by French bows.
Al Missling was the bestman.
Ushers were David Smith and Jack Rittenhouse. Rich LePage, nephew of the groom
was the ring bearer. Pam Decker, sister of the bride, was the miniature bride.
Jeff Mathewson sang, “The Wedding Prayer” and “The Lord’s Prayer,”
accompanied at the organ by Sharon Heidman.
The bride, a 1966 graduate
of Owen -Withee High School, attended River Falls State University. Mr.
Missling, a 1961 graduate of Owen-Withee, was graduated in 1966 from River
Falls. He currently is employed by Production Credit association in Shawano.
