Boie, Pfc. Russell J.
(Military Notes - 1967)
Pfc. Russell J. Boie, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey J. Boie of Rt. 3 Thorp, participated in “Operation Junction City,” the
largest military operation to date in Vietnam.
The operation was launched
on the theory that national Vietcong political and military headquarters might
be located in the area along the Cambodian border. The finding of the largest
enemy encampments in the war tends to support the theory.
Meeting little
VC resistance, the operation was successful in the confiscation of large
quantities of food and arms.
Pfc. Boie is a driver attached to C Battery,
1st battalion of the 1st Infantry division’s 7th artillery.
