Ensign, Harold W. (24 AUG 1928 - 1 JUL 2012)
Harold
W. Ensign, age 83, of Dorchester, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012.
Harold was born in Lodi, Ohio, August 24, 1928, to Clyde E. Ensign and Cora
(Welch) Ensign.
On June 17, 1950,
Harold married Irma Jean Highman.
He worked as a machinist for Ridge Tool Co. for a short time. He then farmed in
Ohio and hauled milk for some years. Harold also was a realtor that sold farms
and farm land in Ohio. In 1977 Harold purchased a farm near Colby where he
farmed with his son Ed. They sold the farm in 1997. He then worked for
Christensen Farms and later worked part time until the time of his death. Harold
lost his first wife in 1994. He met and married Grace Dietel in 1999 and moved
to Dorchester.
Harold is survived by his wife, Grace; his son, Dan, of
Spencer, Ohio; five grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Forkins of Sheffield Village,
Ohio, Heidi Holzl of Marshfield, David Ensign of Colby, and Ethan and Evan
Ensign of Unity; two great grandchildren, Jimmy and Mathew Forkins; five
step-children, James (Roxie) Kahan of Reedsville, Ray (Jan) Kahan of Marathon,
David (Roxy) Kahan of Lublin, Linda Redig of Spencer, and Harry (Karen) Kahan of
Eau Claire; eight step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by his brothers, Charles and Frank (Ernestine) Ensign of
Ohio; sisters, Doris (George) Highman of Ohio and Bertha of North Carolina; and
his sisters-in-law, Martha and Dodie of Ohio and Lilian of Pennsylvania.
Harold is preceded in death by two infant sons; his son, Ed; his first wife,
Irma Jean; and nine brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held
Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in
Abbotsford. Rev. Kris Bjerke-Ulliman will officiate. A visitation will be held
on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is assisting the Ensign family
with arrangements.
