Gassen, Valerie (Marriage - 15 April 1967)

In a double ring ceremony performed Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville by the Rev. George Nelson, Miss Valerie Gassen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Gassen, Jr., of Neillsville, became the bride of Billy John Dahlke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahlke of Rt. 1 Granton.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a white peau de soie entrained gown. A crown of three tiers of silk illusion was secured to a crystal and pearl headpiece. She carried a white prayer book topped with a white orchid, ivy and stephanotis.

Miss Karen Hill of Elroy was maid of honor and wore a floor length Empire gown in sea-spray green. An identical dress was worn by the bridesmaids, Mrs. Donna Dahlke of Loyal, Mrs. Judy Dahlke of Granton, and Kathy Bauer of Neillsville. Matching green headpieces and veils completed their ensembles. Each carried a crescent bouquet of white daisy chrysanthemums and yellow roses.

Judy Jordahl of Neillsville, as miniature bride, wore a white satin and lace dress fashioned as those of the attendants. She wore a crown of white daisy chrysanthemums.

M. John Gassen of Neillsville was bestman. Groomsmen were Jim Dahlke of Loyal, Robert Dahlke of Granton and Greg Gassen. Ushers were Jack Grassman and Larry Schumacher. Jim Dahlke, Jr., of Loyal, was ringbearer.

Two hundred guests attended a reception at a supper club in Marshfield.

The children’s choir of St. Mary’s sang the nuptial songs, accompanied by Sister Michael.

Mr. and Mrs. Dahlke plan to return April 24 from their wedding trip.
