Funeral
services were held Saturday afternoon at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ at
Marshfield for Anton Penam, 78, who died last Thursday. Rev. Harvey Roh
officiated and burial was in the Hillside Cemetery.
Mr. Penam was born
June 12, 1883 in Austria. He came to America as a young man and settled in New
York, later moving to Sheboygan, Plymouth and Milan. He was married to Hilda
Loeffler Zell on May 27, 1914.
In 1936 he moved to Marshfield where he
was employed by the Roddis Plywood Corp. until his retirement in 1952.
Besides his wife he is survived by two step-sons, Lavern Zell, Bellefontaine,
Ohio, and Harvey Zell, Marshfield.
Among persons from Thorp attending the
funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Butterfield, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hedler, Miss
Ollie Hedler, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hedler. Among others were Claude Butterfield
Bellefontaine, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Briggs and Mr. and Mrs. R.L.
Butterfield, Hayward, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Briggs, Bruce, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Briggs and Miss Gaylene Briggs, Franklin Grove, Ill.
