McKee,
Fred M. (17 JUN 1884 - 5 JUN 1962)
Frederick M. McKee, 77, passed away at
the Veterans Home at King, Wis. on June 5th, 1962.
Mr. McKee was born in
Cameron, Mo. on June 17, 1884. He came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) with his
parents while still a boy and spent his younger days here.
He was a
veteran of the Frist World’s War. After his discharge he worked at various jobs,
loving to travel, going south in the winter and coming to Wisconsin for the
summer. His last work before retiring was with the railroad at Stevens Point,
operating a supply store. He never married.
Mr. McKee’s sister, Pearl,
Mrs. John Heagle, and brothers, Oliver and Clarence, preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn, five nieces, Mrs. Muriel Bivens, Stanley, Mrs. Manona
Weaver, Wis. Rapids, Wis., Mrs. Maude Lee, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Florence
Sulfed?, Excelsior, Minn., and Mrs. Alice Gaffney, Owen, Wis.; and three
nephews, Laurence of Rockford, Ill., bob McKee of Pittsville, Wis., and Glen
McKee in Kentucky.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Melvin Miller
of the Church of God of Eau Claire, Wis., at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel at
2:00 o’clock Thursday afternoon, June 7th, and military rites were read at the
graveside by Cecil Tormey Post 118 of the American Legion of Thorp, with a
salute by the firing squad and taps. Pallbearers were Herman Doege, Leonard
Andrews, Wilfred Vanderhyden, Cyril Alger, Wm. S. Wagner and Wm. Lautenbach.
Burial was made in the East Thorp Cemetery.
