Kaczor, Louis (18 AUG 1897 - 20 JUN 1962)
Funeral services were conducted at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00
o’clock Friday afternoon, June 22nd, by Rev. Roy Scott of the Thorp Methodist
Church, for Louis V. Kaczor, 64, who died at his home here of cancer on Tuesday,
June 20, 1962, after a year’s illness. Mr. Kaczor was a former Thorp (Clark Co.,
Wis.) rural mail carrier, who retired in Dec. 1958 after serving forty-one years
in that capacity on rural routes No. 1 and 3.
During the service the
songs “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Abide with Me” were sung by Mrs.
John Paff and Mrs. Wm. Boardman as accompanist.
Mr. Kaczor was born in
Calumet, Mich. on Aug. 18, 1897. He came to Thorp in 1909 and lived with his
parents on a farm in the Town of Withee and attended the local schools. He was a
veteran of the 1st World War and served as rural mail carrier before re-entering
the services, and after his return to Thorp, at the Thorp Post Office.
He
was united in marriage to Irene Dudansky here on Sep. 15, 1921.
Besides
his wife, he is survived by two sons, LeRoy J. Kaczor of Champaign, Ill., and
Wm. L. Kaczor of Thorp; two daughters, Mrs. W.L. Bohn Jr. of Dover, N.H., and
Ruth Kaczor of Thorp; four brothers, Wm. Kaczor, Bismarck, N.D., Michael Kaczor,
Chicago, Nicholas Kaczor, Thorp, and John Kaczor of Withee (Redville); two
sisters, Mrs. Mary Phillips of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Rose Janus of Chicago.
Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery near Black River, where military
services were held at the grave by members of Cecil Tormey Post No. 118 of the
Thorp American Legion. Louis served as the third adjutant of that Post in 1920 -
21.
Pallbearers were Thomas Polnaszek, John Barth, Wm. Launspach, Wm.
Wagner, Joseph Czech and Frank Sierocuk.
He was preceded in death by two
brothers and one sister.
