Sternitzky, Joseph W. (2 February 1891 - 9 June 1967)

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton for Joseph W. Sternitzky, 76, of Granton who died Friday in Marshfield. The Rev. E. T. Keller of Pittsville officiated at the service. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Sternitzky was born February 2, 1891, in the Town of Lynn, where he later attended school. He also attended the Lutheran parochial school in Granton. In his early years he became a carpenter, a trade which he followed for more than 50 years and still was engaged in that work until his death. Many buildings in the Neillsville, Granton, Chili and Marshfield areas were built by him. On November 25, 1914, he was married to the former Elsie Louise Prust in Zion Lutheran Church of which he was a member.

He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Frank (Vivian) Wacker of Plymouth, Mrs. Arnold (Ermine) Noll of Granton, Mrs. Harold (Irene) Ratsch of Greenwood, Mrs. Paul (Adeline) Bieneck of Neillsville, Mrs. Gordon (Emmoline) Revling of Auburndale and Mrs. Ervin (Ione) Brandt of Plymouth. He is also survived by three brothers, Leo and Raymond of Granton, and Gilbert of Plymouth; and by three sisters, Mrs. Carl Jens of Plymouth, Mrs. Robert Ure of Granton and Mrs. Frieda Johnson of Chili; and by 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 12 from the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton for Joseph W. Sternitzky. The Rev. E. T. Keller of Pittsville officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arnold Garbisch, Lyle Fero, Chester Stillman, William Weichelt, Walter Trimberger and Wendell Hubing.

“Heaven is my Home” and “Asleep in Jesus” were sung by Miss Elsie Garbisch, accompanied by Mrs. Leland Garbisch.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton.
