St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield was the setting for the wedding Saturday, June 30th, 1962 of Miss Sandra Lee Frey of Marshfield and Robert J. Czech, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Czech of rural Gilman.

The Rt. Rev. Msgr. A.N. Schuh, pastor of the church, officiated at the marriage ceremony which took place before the altar decorated by white and orchid flowers at 10 a.m., prior to the nuptial Mass on June 30.

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Doll, 1407 N. Peach Ave., was given in marriage by her stepfather, Mr. Doll, and had as her bridal attendants, Miss Irene Beyer of Wis. Rapids, maid of honor, and Miss Vonnie Mayer, Medford and Miss Kathy Czech, Gilman, bridesmaids.

The bride donned a floor length bridal gown of lace and tulle over peau de soie, featuring a Sabrina neckline trimmed with sequins and seed pearls. The jewel embellished skirt was princess styled with unpressed pleats at the hipline. Her imported French illusion veil was attached to a queen’s crown of aurora borealis crystal and pearls and the modified cascade bouquet she carried was comprised of one lavender orchid and orchid and white carnations.

The bridal attendants carried colonial style bouquets of yellow and white carnations, and white stephanotis, the bridesmaid’s being the smaller type bouquet. Their floor length strapless dresses were of lace and nylon sheer styled with shirred fitted bodices and full hoop skirts and featuring lace and bow trimmed panels. Bolero jackets completed their costume worn with matching tiered clip headpieces.

Flower girl and ring bearer were Sheila and Preston Frey of Marshfield. Sheila carried a small floral arrangement like the bridesmaid and had a headpiece of feathered yellow and white carnations. Her dress was in styling as that of the bridal attendants.

Attendants in the groom’s wedding party were Adolph Czech, best man, and Vernon Warner, groomsman, both of Gilman, and the other groomsman was Ray Frey of Marshfield. Doing ushering duties were Ted Czech, River Falls, and Anton Czech, Milwaukee.

A reception was held from 2 to 8 p.m. and included a buffet supper. The dance took place in the evening and all events were held in Marshfield at the Eagles Hall.

After a wedding trip to the Lac du Flambeau area, the couple will make their home at 816 S. 69th St., Milwaukee, where the groom is a welder at Maynard Elect. Steel.
