Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Hmielak, 76, a resident of the City of Thorp
(Clark Co., Wis.) since 1943, died suddenly of a heart attack at her home here
at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 1962.
Mary Kopec was born in Krakow,
Poland on Feb. 23, 1886. She came to America in 1902 and was united in marriage
to Joseph Hmielak on Jan. 12, 1904 at Port Griffith, Pa. She moved shortly after
her marriage to Chicago with her husband and several years later came to Thorp
and located on a farm in the Town of Reseburg. They retired from the farm in
1943 and came to the village of Thorp. Mr. Hmielak passed away in 1956.
The deceased is survived by two sons, John of Thorp and Ed of Witt, Ill., four
daughters, Anne Hiller of Riverside, Ill., Helen Hmielak of Chicago, Agnes
Carmichael of Lexington, Ky., and Cecile Bohaboy of Berwyn, Ill., thirteen
grandchildren nd six great-grandchildren; one brother, Stanley Kopec of Detroit,
Mich., and one sister, Regina, in Poland.
A requiem Mass was said by the
Rev. Edward Masalewicz for the deceased at 9:00 o’clock Friday morning, July
20th at St. Hedwig’s Chapel and interment took place in St. Hedwig’s New
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dick Heller, Alan Bohaboy, Phil Bohaboy, Bob Hmielak,
Ray Hmielak and Ed Broda.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the
funeral services were Mrs. Harry Heller and daughter Linda of Riverside, Ill.,
Mrs. Howard Carmichael and daughters of Lexington, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bohaboy
and sons of Berwyn, Ill., Ed Hmielak, Witt, Ill., Helen Hmielak, Chicago, Dick
Heller, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Al Nowobilski, Milwaukee, Mrs. Eugene Zdroik and
sons, Rosholt, Wis., Mike Bryja, Minneapolis, C. Stanek, Schiller Park, Ill.,
Mr. and Mrs. J. Sobczinski, Palatine, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. M. Lazowski of
Oshkosh, Wis.
