Shortell, Annie L. (19 DEC 1871 - 23 JUL 1962)

Mrs. Annie Laurie Shortell, 91, a resident of the Township of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at her home there of old age infirmities on Monday, July 23, 1962.

Annie Toomey, daughter of the late Matt and Ellen Toomey, was born in Benton, Wis. on Dec. 19, 1871. She was united in marriage there to Patrick Shortell in 1891. After her marriage she moved to South Dakota with her husband, where they lived for a number of years, then returning to Cuba City, Wis. to reside. In 1918 they came to Thorp and settled on a farm in the Town of Worden where Mr. Shortell passed away in December 1922, and Mrs. Shortell resided until death.

Mrs. Shortell is survived by five sons, John, Vernon, Alvin and Dale of Thorp, and Frank of Wis. Rapids, Wis.; three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Olson of St. Paul, Marjorie, Mrs. Roman Konsella, and Ann, Mrs. August Konsella, both of Hannibal, Wis.; sixteen grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters and one daughter.

The body lay in state at the Plombon Funeral home at Stanley until the time of the funeral, which was held at ten o’clock Thursday morning, July 26th, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thorp, the Rev. Francis Brockman officiating. Rosary services we held at the funeral home at Stanley at 8:00 o’clock Wednesday evening.

Burial was made in St. Bernard’s Cemetery at Thorp. Pallbearers were Wm. Micke, Ray Ketterhagen, Harry Boie, Harvey Boie, Max Schultz and Francis Laurent.
