Genevieve E. Malnar, 93, Marshfield, passed away
peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2012, at House of the Dove, Marshfield. A private
interment service will be held at a later date at the Hillside Cemetery,
Marshfield.
Genevieve Elizabeth Shiltz was born on Nov. 30, 1918, in
Aurora, Minn. to Fred and Mary (nee Kozar) Shiltz. She attended school in Aurora
until moving to Willard with her family in 1926. She then attended the Willard
State Graded School through the ninth grade. She married Emil Joseph Malnar on
Aug. 20, 1938. They farmed in the town of Longwood until 1974, when they moved
to Marshfield. They worked part time at the Marshfield Dentakl Clinic for 10
years. In their spare time, they enjoyed gardening, garage sales, participating
in activities at the Senior Center, playing cards and casino trips. Emil and
Genevieve enjoyed several trips after leaving their farm, including a 3 week
excursion to Slovenia and Croatia, plus trips to Canada, Florida, New England,
Niagara Falls and several western states. Genevieve was an avid reader of non
fiction books and newspapers and also enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles
and especially family visits.
Survivors include one daughter, Maxine
(Gerald) Glasshof, Marshfield; two granddaughters, Jacqueline Glasshof,
Marshfield, and Kathleen O’keefe, Hammond; one great-grandson, Sean O’Keefe,
Hammond; one sister, Mary Kebl, Black River Falls; one brother, Fred (Lorraine)
Schiltz, Marshfield; two nieces, Dorothy (Stan) Pernic, Melrose, and Dr. Karen
Schiltz, Westlake Village, Calif.; and one nephew, Ralph Kebl, Black River
Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil, in 1997; her
parents; and one nephew, Gary Schiltz.
