Verlyn M. Hoops, 82, Spencer, passed away peacefully
on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Golden Living Center Three Oaks in Marshfield. A
memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 6, at Trinity Lutheran
Church, Spencer. Rev. David DePaoli will officiate. A time of visitation will be
held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.
Verlyn Hoops was born on Aug. 8, 1929, in Spencer, the son of Martin and Frieda
(nee Huber) Hoops. He attended Spencer schools. On June 14, 1952, he married
Beryl Hayden at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield. The couple owned and
operated a dairy farm until 1973. Verlyn also worked for the villiage of Spencer
street department for 21 years. He was a member of the Spencer Fire Department
for 17 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. He especially cherished
time spent camping with his family.
Verlyn is lovingly survived by his
wife, Beryl; two children, Sharon (Verlyn) Randt and Sandra (James) Fruin; three
grandchildren, Heather (Matthew) Cole, Kimberly (Kendal) Schmidt, and Stacy
(Ryan Brecke) Randt; a brother, Elmer Hoops; and many other family and friends.
He will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin
and Freida; a sister, Irene Heckel; and a brother, Alvin, Alvin Hoops.
