Osgood, Frant (26 SEP 1849 - 3 JUN 1917)
Frant
Osgood, after a several week’s illness, took a sudden turn for the worse late
last week and his physician pronounced his malady as creeping paralysis. Mr.
Osgood continuing to fail, passed into that last sleep from which there is no
awakening at midnight Sunday night.
Deceased was 67 years old the 26th of
September 1916. He was born in St. Lawrence Co., N.Y. and when a lad of 14 years
came to Clark Co. with his parents and settled on the farm in the town of York
(Clark Co., Wis.), which has ever since been his home. Here he was married to
Miss Azuba Davis July 4th, 1877, and there their children Myron, Rella, and
Myrtle were born. These children, Myron of the town of Grant, Rella on the home
place in the town of York, and Myrtle, Mrs. Kearney Davis of this village, with
four grandchildren and his one brother Leroy of Portland, Oregon, survive him.
His wife preceded him in death 8 years ago, the 10th of April. The funeral was
held from the home at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Wilson Mallory
officiating, and interment was made in the Windfall Cemetery beside the grave of
his late beloved wife.
Mr. Osgood was a well-known member of the M.W.A.
and the funeral was conducted under the M.W.A. auspices. The pallbearers were
his fraternal brothers Fisk Lee, Webb Winn, D.S. Rausch, W.D. Rose, E. A.
Beeckler and Noble Downer.
Deceased was a quiet, reserved man who led a
peaceful uneventful life, devoid of ostentatious display. He was always a kind,
loving, indulgent husband and father, a worthy and respected friend and
neighbor.
