College Notes (25 July 2012)
Bailey Kaiser of Colby
graduated Magna Cum Laude from Edgewood College, Madison, May 20, earning a
Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and Spanish. She was also named to the 2012
spring dean’s list. Bailey is the daughter of Marty and Gwenn Kaiser.
The following area students are among the May 13 graduates of the University of
Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Neillsville - Leann Karl, Bachelor of Science
degree, in early childhood through middle childhood education major;
Owen
- Matthew Lawcewicz, Bachelor of Science degree, biology major;
Amber
Sonsalla, of Merrillan, graduated May 5 from St. Cloud University with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies.
The University of
Wisconsin-Platteville has awarded scholarships to its incoming first-year class.
Award winners from Coby were Aaron Galindo, who won the Colby High School
Community Scholarship, totaling $150; Quinn Kramar who won the Spencer High
School Community Scholarship and Freshman Achievement and Leadership
Scholarship, totaling $600; and Chelsea Rahm, who won the Colby High School
Community Scholarship, totaling $150.
The following area students
qualified for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Dean’s List and Honor Roll for
the spring semester of the 2011 to 2012 school year.
Neillsville -
Allison Abel, dean’s list (grade-point average (GPA) 3.75 or higher); Mary
Glaza, dean’s list; Megan Hemstrom, honor roll (GPA of at least 3.3)

Soyk of Abbotsford was among the spring 2012 graduates of Winona State
University, Winona, MN. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science (BS)
degree in accounting.
Brittany Domaszek of Neillsville was among the
spring 2012 graduates of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She received a
Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism.
Devon Englebretson of Owen was
among the spring 2012 graduates of St. Norbert’s College, De Pere. He graduated
Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Andie Varsho of Chili has
earned academic honors (minimum GPA of 3.5) for the spring 2012 semester at
Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN.
Kari Eloranta of Owen has been
named to the spring 2012 dean’s list of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
She is a student in the College of Liberal Arts.

Wisconsin-River Falls.
Chili - Tamara Stichert, Master of Science (MS) -
education, with a major in professional development shared inquiry community.
Dorchester - Allison Kirker, B. S., agriculture, food and environmental
science, with a major in dairy science.

agriculture, food and environmental science, with a major in horticulture; Mary
Handrich, M. S., with major in agricultural education
Withee - Michael
Benzschawel, B. S., agriculture, food and environmental science, with a major in
