Wichman, Karen (27 Aug 1960)
Married on Saturday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church were Karen Wichman and
Jerome Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schmidt, Spencer. The bride’s parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Orville Wichman, Loyal. Following the 10 a.m. wedding a dinner
was served to 200 guests in the church dining hall. Noelda Foelske sang “The
Lord’s Prayer” at the dinner and was accompanied by Barbara Wepfer. A reception
was given at the home of the bride’s parents and a dance was held at the Kolby
Park Pavilion. The couple later left on a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin and
Illinois.
The Rev. Norbert E. King performed the double ring ceremony in
which St. Anthony’s choir sang, “Ava Maria” and the “Lord’s Prayer”.
Multicolored gladioli decorated the altar.
As Mr. Wichman gave his
daughter in marriage she wore a gown of chantilly lace over imported silk
organza in a floor length. The bodice was styled with a Sabrina neckline and her
long sleeves were pointed at the wrist. Seed pearls and sequins held her elbow
length nylon veil. She carried a white prayer book with an orchid.
In the
bridal party were Judy Wichman, the bride’s sister, as honor attendant, Mrs.
Larry Waldhauser, the groom’s sister, and Noelda Foelske as bridal aides. The
young women wore frocks in three shades of pink. The bodice was lace over
taffeta with silk organza skirts. They held colonial bouquets of pink and white
carnations. Barbara Delo was flower girl and Ronnie Delo of Milwaukee was the
ring bearer.
Attending the groom was Donald Schmidt, his brother, as best
man, Larry Waldhauser and Bill Horn as groomsman. Robert Schmidt and John
Schultz did the ushering.
The bride graduated from Loyal High School and
is a senior at Stout State College. She is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma, a
national social sorority and Phi Upsilon Omecron, a national honorary home
economics fraternity.
Her husband also graduated from Loyal High School
and is a student at River Falls State College.
