Drescher, Carol Ann (Marriage - 17 June 1967)

Zion Lutheran Church in Granton was the setting for the wedding Saturday of Miss Carol Ann Drescher of rural Neillsville, who exchanged nuptial vows with Donald Everett Free of Rt. 1 Neillsville, in a ceremony performed by the Rev. E. T. Keller of Pittsville. Baskets of all-white mixed flowers graced either side of the altar, and pink roses marked the pews.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Drescher of Rt. 1 Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Free of Loyal.

“O Perfect Love” and “The Lord’s Prayer” were sung by Miss Elsie Garbisch, accompanied by Mrs. Lee Garbisch.

The bride entered the church wearing a floor-length Chantilly lace dress, styled with a scoop neckline and dotted with sequins. Sequins and a scalloped bottom enhanced the full lace skirt. Her veil of French illusion was attached to a queen’s crown of pearl arches. She carried a bridal bouquet of pink roses, entwined with ivy.

Serving as matron of honor was Mrs. Richard (Janice) Drescher of Wisconsin Rapids. Bridesmaids were Miss Nancy Hoeft of Granton and Miss Mary Ann Nickel of Granton.

Each was attired in a floor-length sleeveless sheath of lace over satin, in mint green, pink and blue. The dresses were complemented with cummerbunds and back panels of peau satin. Veils in harmonizing colors were secured to open flower headpieces. Each carried a cascade arrangement of pink carnations and greens.

Richard Drescher, brother of the bride, was bestman. Groomsmen were Mike Spuhler and Jack Spuhler, both of Rt. 2 Loyal. Ushers were Harold Murphy of Black River Falls and Richard Buchholz of rural Neillsville.

Wedding day events included a reception at the bride’s home, a dinner for 250 guests in the church parlor and a dance in the evening in the American Legion Hall in Neillsville.

On their return from a western wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Free will reside on Rt. 1 Neillsville, where the groom is engaged in farming.
