Smith, Rose (30 April 1909 - 24 June 1967)
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church in
Neillsville for Mrs. Wilbur Smith, 58, of Milwaukee, who died Saturday in a
Milwaukee hospital. The Rev. William Dushek officiated. Burial was made in the
Town of Grant Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith, the former Rose West, was born April
30, 1909, in the Town of Grant, daughter of the late George and Hazel (Slocomb)
West. She attended school in the Town of Grant and was a graduate of Neillsville
High School and Stout Institute in Menomonie.
Following her marriage on
October 25, 1927, to Wilbur Smith in Neillsville, they lived in the Neillsville
area before moving to Milwaukee in 1943.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her
husband; three children Mrs. Zona Rosenstock of Milwaukee, Mrs. John (Iva)
Lehman of Milwaukee and Mrs. Wayne (Dona) Kesti of Houston, Texas. Other
survivors are: four sisters, Mrs. George (Fern) Kuehn of Neillsville, Mrs.
Ernest (Beulah) Reimer of New Era, Mich., Mrs. Bert (Daisy) Hart of Pacoima,
Cal., and Mrs. Joe (Reca) Kernz of Marshfield; and three brothers, James West of
Neillsville, Leland (Bud) West of San Bernardino, Cal., and Roy West of
Marshall. Seven grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were: Gerald
Schmidt, Arnold Gustman, Art Hubing, Earl Zille, H. H. Quicker and Leslie L.
Keuer.
Mrs. Iris Musil played organ music.

Rosenstock of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kesti of Houston, Tex.; Mr. and Mrs.

Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Suchy, Pittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Werner Doehr,
Chili; Mr. and Mrs. Roy West and family, Marshall; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bequette,
Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Vine, Mr. and Mrs. Theamore Vine, Mr. and Mrs.
Irvin Vine, Mrs. Archie Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Anding, Mrs. Lucien Moh and
Mrs. Armin Moh, all of Granton.
