A picnic lunch with a Fourth of July theme was enjoyed by 32
relatives who attended the annual Gierl Family Reunion, held June 30 at the
Marian and Peter Schemenauer farm in the town of Frankfort in Marathon County.
Those 90 years of age and older in attendance received a red carnation
to wear.
They were Robert Weideman Sr., 93, Curtiss (married to Helen
Gierl); Carl Ewan, Rhinelander, 91 (nephew of Albert and Lizzie Gierl); Edward
Gierl, 91, Appleton (son of Joseph and Mary Gierl); Theresa Gierl, 90 Appleton
(married to Edward; and Leonard Jantsch, 92, Abbotsford (nephew of Joe and Mary
Gierl).
In their younger years, all five of them lived in the vicinity of
Abbotsford, Athens and Curtiss.
