Bogumill, Ruth A. (20 OCT 1962)

A gold and white color scheme was carried out at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp, for the marriage of Miss Ruth Alice Bogumill and James Robert Somers, on Saturday, Oct. 20, 1962. Rev. Francis J. Brockman performed the eleven o’clock ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Bogumill, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Mr. and Mrs. P. Somers, Greensboro, N.C.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white flowered brocade gown styled by her sister Judy, Mrs. Carl Thaxton. Her fitted bodice was styled with Sabrina neckline and three-quarter length sleeves and the full length bell skirt flowed into a chapel train. A crown of seeded pearls and rhinestone held her short silk illusion veil edged in embroidery and she carried a single large white orchid with gold lip.

Miss Frances E. Bogumill was her sister’s maid of honor, wearing a slate blue cocktail length full skirt, flowered brocade gown styled with a fitted bodice, Sabrina neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. Mrs. Carl Thaxton, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, wearing a gold dress styled identically to the maid of honor’s. Each carried casual bouquets of gold and white spider mums. The bride’s sister, Judy, also fashioned the maid of honor’s and bridesmaid’s dresses.

Michael T. Bogumill, brother of the bride, was groomsman and best man was A/1C Merrill Berkheimer, friend of the groom. Ushers were Leo E. and Byron D. Bogumill, brothers of the bride, and Carl Thaxton, brother-in-law of the bride.

Gold and white bouquets of mums and white candles decorated the Thorp Finance Dining Room for the buffet luncheon.

The bride attended Thorp High School and the University of Wisconsin, and for the last two years has been occupation therapist at Orthopedic School, Soo, Mich. The groom attended Phieffer and Elton Colleges, N.C., and was recently discharge from the U.S. Air Force, after being stationed in Texas, Thure, Greenland and Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

The newlyweds will take their wedding trip to Greensboro, N.C. where they will make their home after Nov. 1.

Out of town guests were from Madison, Milwaukee, Hartland, Marshfield, Abbotsford, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Also Mrs. Robert Somers from Greensboro, N.D. and Mrs. Thomas Farrer and son Edward from Apex, N.C.
