Eslinger, Marlene B. (13 OCT 1962)
Traditional fall flowers of bronze, gold and yellow mums decorated the Sacred
Heart Church, Edson, for the marriage ceremony of Miss Marlene Barbara Eslinger
and Walter John Posda on Saturday, Oct. 13, 1962. Rev. Father Francis Knopp
performed the ten a.m. double ring ceremony. Mrs. Lorraine Wald sang “Mother At
Thy Feet I’m Kneeling,” as the bride placed a bouquet on the Blessed Virgin
altar. The adult choir sang the Nuptial High Mass.
Parents of the couple
are Mr. and Mrs. Jacob M. Eslinger, R. 2, Boyd, and Mr. George Posda, R. 3,
Stanley, Wis.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor
length silk organza over taffeta gown styled with fitted bodice of Chantilly
lace enhanced with sequins and pearls and traditional long tapered sleeves. The
bouffant skirt was accented with lace inserts in front and the back featured
wide lace panels ending in a brush train. A crown of pearls and sequins held her
imported silk illusion veil and she carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and
white stephanotis.
Mrs. James Posda was matron of honor, wearing an
emerald green ballerina length gown styled with fitted bodice and scoop
neckline. Her skirt featured a draped midriff and a bell skirt. Bridesmaids were
Miss Shirley Endvick, Mrs. Thomas Eslinger, sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs.
Ronald Myslinski. They all wore gowns identical to the matron of honor’s, and
all wore matching crowns trimmed with crystals and carried cascade bouquets of
gold, yellow and bronze carnations.
James Posda was his brother’s best
man, and groomsmen were Richard Posda, brother of the groom, Ronald Myslinski,
friend of the couple, and Thomas Eslinger, brother of the groom. Ushers were
Florian Posda, brother of the groom, and Harlan Eslinger, brother of the bride.
Green and white streamers and white wedding bells decorated the Sacred Heart
School hall for the twelve noon dinner. A reception for 350 guests was held at
Edson Pavilion. The wedding cake was baked by Mrs. Herman Mohr and served by
Miss Claire Meyer and Mrs. Robert Loichl.
The bride attended Sacred Heart
School and Stanley High School and was formerly employed by the Stanley Farmer
Store. The groom attended Stanley schools and is a farmer on R. 3, Stanley,
where they will make their home.
The bride’s mother wore a beige brocaded
sheath dress with dark brown accessories and a corsage of gold, yellow and
bronze carnations for her daughter’s wedding.
Friends attending the
wedding were from Milwaukee, Chicago, Thorp, Stanley, Ladysmith, Boyd and
Chippewa Falls.
