Plath, Mr. and Mrs. William (13 Oct 1910 wedding day)

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Plath, who were married in Tinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Karl Schmidt on October 13, 1910, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, October 8. A five o’clock dinner was held at the Trinity Lutheran Church Hall in Spencer for 100 relatives and friends. Table decorations were in a gold theme for the celebration with cut flowers and a Bible cake.

A small program was held and the Rev. W. R. Krueger gave a short address which was closed with a hymn.

A reception was held in the evening at Spencer Municipal Hall where cards were played and refreshments were served.

The honored couple were presented with a corsage of yellow and bronze Mums with yellow roses and a yellow carnation boutonniere, as were the attendants, Mrs. Anna Cobet of North Fond du Lac, and Mr. Martin Hoops of Spencer, who were present for the occasion.

A purse of money was presented by the children and many gifts and cards were also received.

Mr. Plath was born in Spencer on March 18, 1889 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Plath. He worked until his retirement in 1954.

Mrs. Plath was born at Wayside, Brown County, Wis. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Hoops. Both are in fairly good health and spend time visiting their children. Five children were born to the couple. They are Mrs. Harold (Helen) Fisher, Fond du Lac; Mrs. Sigert (Eva) Krasselt, Spencer; Mrs. Merton (Arlene) Yomans, Janesville; Sherwood, Oshkosh; and Wm. Jr. Lac du Falmbeau.

There are also 11 grandchildren. All were present for the occasion except one grandchild, Gary Fisher, YNSN U.S. Navy, who is stationed at Norfolk, Virginia.

Those from away attending were from Elgin, Illinois, Janesville, Fond du Lac, Freemont, Stevens Point, Moon, Marshfield, Unity, Loyal, Oshkosh and Lac du Flambeau.
