Ernest Crevecoeur was at Chili on business on Monday.

Mrs. Homer Davis and little son went home to Owen on Tuesday.

Timothy King went to Adams Tuesday on business.

Leila Dopp went to Chili Saturday and visited friends until Monday.

Henry Grassman is working a Auburndale since Monday.

Joseph Sternitzky and Harold Miles were Neillsville visitors on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Campbell went home to Marshfield on Saturday.

Chas. Riedel was at Neillsville Wednesday.

Mrs. Herman Schoengarth visited Neillsville relatives, Wednesday.

Miss Hazel Brooks arrived home from Minneapolis on Wednesday.

Miss Lena Riedel entertained the R.N.A. Wednesday evening.

Mr. Mallory came home from Stevens Point on Monday.

Floyd Winn was at Marshfield Saturday.

Mrs. J.M. Eysnogle and daughter went to Neillsville yesterday.

Post office inspector Will Esch was here on official business on Tuesday.

Theodore Larson and family left for Eleva on Saturday.

Henry Sternitzky went to Reedsburg on Saturday.

Miss Gretchen Palmatier went home to Colby on Saturday.

Mrs. Gus Hahm was a county seat visitor last week Thursday.

Carl Moh went to Muscoda on Tuesday.

Mrs. Geo. King is home from her visit at La Valle since Tuesday.

Mrs. Frank Davis entertained the Circle and a few outside friends Wednesday.

Mrs. F.S. Thomas and daughter Ethel Jean of Lisbon, N.D., visited the Baers from Saturday until Wednesday.

Mrs. Rhoda Schafer and her sister, Mrs. Belle Potter of Neillsville, are visiting at W.J. Thayer’s since Tuesday.

Ezra Campbell, with his crew of masons, is laying stone for W.J. Thayer’s new hardware store building since Monday.

Miss Ruth Hasz went to Merrillan Saturday with her grandma Hasz, who went home to Loganville.

The Children’s Day exercises in Rev. Reiff’s Parish were well attended and afforded much pleasure to a large and appropriate audience.

Dr. Ross and family left on Monday by auto for Iowa state point on a vacation trip and visit among relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Agin left for Mondovi yesterday on a week’s visit to relatives and old friends.

Mrs. And Mrs. E.R. Wonser and daughters Mermel and Elizabeth autoed to Unity Sunday and Mermel remained on a week’s visit between the Geo. Oldenburg and Fred Wonser families.

Warren Page came up from Waupaca last week Thursday in response to news of his mother’s death, and made an over Sunday stay with home folks. The funeral was held on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Clemens Kuechenmeister and son Ernest arrived home from their auto trip and visit at Tomahawk and Wausau on Saturday.

Miss Mathilda Hogenson and Reinhold Pischke of Black River Falls were guests in the Adolph Hogenson home Saturday.

Mrs. Steuerwald and daughter Alma of Loyal took the train here for Elroy yesterday. Mrs. Steuerwald left her son Martina and daughter Eileen here at Grandma Jahr’s.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McInnis and baby Fern of Wolcott, N.D., are here visiting relatives in the Willie Williams family since Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Gus Deutsch and daughters Nancy and Beatrice of Neillsville were guests at the Kearney Davis family on Sunday.

Miss Lucile Henze, who attended Lawrence College at Appleton the past year, is home from her studies there since Saturday.

Mrs. Beisner, with two of her children, went to Junction City, Ill. on business last week Thursday.

Joe Krause is home from his Wausau and other state points visit since Saturday.

Dr. and Mrs. G.F. Edschied of Milwaukee, who visited at the O.A. Peterson’s last week, returned to Milwaukee Tuesday.

The Misses Hulda and Anita Schoengarth alternate with visiting their brother at Marshfield since week Tuesday.

Rush Wentworth returned from Edgerton on Saturday.

The Misses Ora and Maria Davis spent Monday with Neillsville friends.

Otto Uhlhorn, after a 6 week visit at Dave Garbush’s, went home to Plymouth on Tuesday.

The Misses Jean and Sarah Mae Davis are visiting the J.B. Daughhetee family at Colby since Tuesday.

Mrs. Walter Schlinsog spent Tuesday with her sister Mrs. Lorenz Kohl at Marshfield.

Sid Davis arrived home Wednesday morning after a several weeks trip and visit to New York State.

Mrs. Mary Peters, after a week’s visit with Mrs. Chas. Neinas, went home to Appleton Monday.

Chas. Hayden bought Chester Finnigan’s 4 acres with buildings on the west side of the village last week.

Thos. Wojciechowski of Athens spent several days of last week here with the Geo. Beaver family.

Dan Hughes left for Covington, Ind. Saturday, where he has joined his wife in a visit to her folks.

Mrs. Annie Ketel, after a visit with old friends here, went on to Chili Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Lee went to Nashotah last Friday on a visit to Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Morris.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hiles went to Warrens Tuesday on a visit to relatives.

Miss Anna Teatz, after a 4 day visit with home folks, returned to Whitehall and her work there on Tuesday.

Mrs. Joe Krause spent Tuesday with the Aug. Foemmel family at Chili assisting Mrs. Foemmel with the cooking incident to the Foemmel *barn raising that day.

Mrs. Emil Pockat and three children from Marion came late Friday and visited relatives in the Chas Greeler family in the town of York, until Tuesday.

Mrs. Hetzke and little son are home from their visit at Clintonville and other southern state point, since Saturday.

Mrs. Chas. Babcock, after a several days visit at Edw. Schroeder’s, went home Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fahrenbach and their four children came over from Marshfield Saturday and made a several days visit with the E.H. Hetzke family on Route 3.

Mrs. Emma Oatman came over from Chili last week Thursday and visited at the Frank Davis home until Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Henry Grassman and Mrs. Geo. Rose, her daughter Pearl and Irene Hart spent Wednesday at Marshfield.

Mrs. Henry Marg and son Vernie, and Mrs. Wm. Marg went to Milwaukee Wednesday of a 10 day visit to relatives.

Rose and Stanley Kemmeter are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Will Churchill in Milwaukee the past two weeks, are expected home late next week.

John Vandeberg, who was called to Fond du Lac by the death of a relatives last week, is home from there since Saturday.

F.J. Oosterhaus, state dairy commissioner of Bismarck, N.D., on a business trip to Chciago, came up from that city last week and made a short visit to relatives in the H.T. Lawson home, leaving here for the west on Thursday.

E.A. Schroeder autoed to Weyauwega Saturday and returned Tuesday, accompanied by Mrs. Schroeder and baby Virginia Lee, who had been down on a week’s visit to relatives.

Mrs. Wm. Schoengarth, a patient at the Marshfield Hospital since last Tuesday, is reported as doing very nicely. Miss Cobn Schultz, a professional nurse, cared for her for the first week or more.

Leo Peterson is home from the state university at Madison since Friday evening.

Miss Adella Winter is home from Milwaukee on a several week’s vacation visit since Friday.

Miss Ora Marsh went to Melrose on a week’s pleasure trip and visit on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bartz and baby are home from Eagle River since Friday.

E.A. Bedckler went to Chicago Tuesday to attend the National convention of the M.W. A.

Mrs. Albert Manthey and son Robert spent Saturday with friends at Marshfield.

Mrs. Mary Vine, after a several week’s visit among her children here, went home to Crandon on Monday.

Mrs. Leonard Cole and sister-in-law, Miss Rachel Cole, went to Ogdensburg Monday for a short visit with relatives of the former.

Miss Anna Teatz came up from Whitehall Saturday and visited home folks until Tuesday.

Walter Coil and family moved into the Lester Shafer home the first of the week.

Miss Jennie Ackerman returned home from her visit at New Richmond and Eau Claire on Wednesday.

Arthur and Marie Hubing and Henry Braatz autoed to Grand Rapids and Rudolph yesterday.

Mrs. Oosterhaus and grandsons Carl Oosterhaus and Erwin Wierman, who were here visiting at Henry Lawson’s, went home to Waldo last Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Viergutz arrived home Wednesday morning from a 3 week visit at Rochester, Minn. Their son Reinhold of that city accompanied them home for a short vacation visit.

Chas. Wallace, who is here operating (??) in the town of Washburn, returned to Stevens Point Saturday to auto up in his new Ford early this week.

Albert Davis and daughter Annabelle went to Spring Valley Monday to spend the balance of the week with relatives and bring Alberta home with them, tomorrow.

Mrs. Amelia Pischer, her daughter Alma and son Harold, were over from Neillsville and made an over Sunday visit among relatives and old friends.

Mrs. Hickox, her son Bert and daughter Verda, all of Spring Green, came late last week and made an over Sunday visit to Mr. and Mrs. Orren Hickox on the W.S. Davis farm.

Mrs. J.H. Frank and son Gerald of Altoona, after a several days visit with the Theo. Breseman family, went home to Altoona on Monday.

John Ceman came up from Fond du Lac Wednesday to spend the balance of the week with home folks in the town of Sherwood. John has enlisted in Co. E. of the 2nd Reg. of Wis. Inf. and expects to be at Camp Douglas soon.

Arthur Riedel and Chas. Haltaufderheide were county seat visitors on Monday.

G.W. Sutherland of Exeland, after a visit with the J.L. and Les Furgeson families, left for La Crosse Monday.

Mrs. Freeman Dankemyer and her three children came over from Chili Saturday evening and made an over Sunday visit with relatives in Mrs. Amanda Krause’s family.

Mrs. Chas. Bollom and children went to Humbird Sunday and visited relatives until Monday, when they were accompanied home by Mrs. Chas. Noyes and son Edmond of that village.

 

 

*The above photo was taken on a Clark County, Wisconsin area farm in 1910.  Several neighboring farmers joined in the “barn raising” task after the first floor of mortar and stone was completed.  The loft framework of beams was put in place to be followed by several roofing rafters, which were raised and set up in place by men pulling the ropes that were attached to the rafters.  They helped one another in such tasks, donating their time and efforts, being good neighbors by doing a favor that was returned in one way or another.
