Four generations of the descendants of John and Mary (Dolak) Bochanyin gathered for a five day family reunion at Holiday Shores Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

All enjoyed the many water activities, parasailing, various games, good food, recipe swapping, visiting and reminiscing.

The hot, humid weather was a challenge but young and old alike had a memorable time.

John and Mary Bochanhyin were early settlers in Holton township. They came to the area in 1896, settling on 40 acres on CTH A, five miles east of Dorchester near the Jerkwater Tavern. John and his sons built a 90 foot barn in 1918 and named their land the Lone Pine Dairy Farm. The barn still stands today with a few changes and additions.

The land remained in the family for three generations, having expanded to over 300 acres when it was sold in 1957. The Jerkwater Tavern and supper Club is still in operation today. It was run by Bochanhyins' for many years until it was sold to new owners in 2007.

Especially delicious were the venison dished prepared by Lee and Larry Bochanyin. Lee and Larry also proved the speed boat and pontoon boat for everyone’s enjoyment. There was a lot of tubing, knee boarding and even parasailing for anew brave souls. It was fun to see how the youngsters had grown and changed in two years.

Another reunion is being planned for July 2014.
